❝But I tell you, do not swear
an oath at all:
either by Heaven, for it is God’s throne;
or by the earth,
for it is His footstool;
or by Jerusalem, for it is the
city of the Great King.
And do not swear by your head,
for you cannot make even
one hair white
or black.
All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No';
anything beyond this comes from
the evil one.
—Matthew 5:34-37

[ With that, he begins to sip at his drink once again. ]

Somehow, it seems to make them look more complete, knowing both sides exist.
He wonders too...is it more now less wishing too uphold a lingering responsibility thereby allowing children to still return (though still tangibly remaining), but deep down seeking to achieve their true wish to embrace death? Thus why they can easily abandon everything after that? ]
I don't have any interest in seeing you linger here.
[ For one reason or another. He pauses, weighing in their weary tone, their guilt, and memories of their last conversation. ]
Whatever you've done, I simply won't allow it.
...And while we're here, humor me for a little.
